As a parent I believe it's always better to error on the side of not letting your kids see anything (even though it's the opposite of the way I was brought up). Is it good or bad? I really can't answer that because censorship for me personally was not an issue and I didn't grow up to be a psycho right, but I also have seen violent content really stick to young minds. She's definitely more sheltered and easily scared than I was at her age. My daughter is not like me, just recently I tried to show her The Conjuring, she was only able to watch about 20 minutes of it before I had to shut it off and she ended up sleeping with my wife and I for almost two weeks. When I first introduced him to some of the scarier movies even as a 5th grader he'd struggle with the content where it would just breeze over me and it wouldn't scare me.

I remember he was not allowed to watch or consume stuff like horror movies where as I would routinely watch stuff at my dad's over the weekend (parents were divorced) with almost no censorship. We've been friends for over 20 years and always talk about how different we were when we met in the 5th grade. My best friend in life is somebody who came from a more traditional American family. My parents didn't speak English, didn't really understand American popular culture and therefore I had a lot more freedom to consume things that a more savvy parent would probably say "absolutely not" to. I was born in a different country and immigrated to the United States when I was only 4 years old. Well every kid's threshold is different but generally speaking I believe my kids are not as desensitized to things like I was.
